Pumpkin Recipes From Autumn Banner Classes

 Hello Everyone!
Just wanted to drop by and thank all the lovely folks who stopped in to take their craft classes lately.
We appreciate you all!
What a joy it is to spend a bit of time with you having fun behind the scenes at Grandiflora!
We've all been enjoying the classes so much here, but what we
HAVEN'T
been enjoying is all the goodies we are forced to consume during the classes themselves
(WINK, WINK)
;)
We are working on getting some of the past recipes rounded up for your requests...
but for now here are the two I have for you:
Pumpkin Crumble Pie
&
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins
both from our September 27th
"Autumn Banner"
classes
A.M. & P.M.
Along with the Cream Cheese Topping for both recipes.
Here we go, these are super E-Z:

PUMPKIN CRUMBLE PIE
Ingredients:
3 eggs
1- 15oz. can pumpkin
1 cup sugar
1 T. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. milk
1- 18 oz. yellow cake mix
1/2 c. margarine or butter softened
1 package (2 pk.) refrigerated pie crusts, unbaked

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*. Mix first 6 ingredients in a bowl, set aside. In seperate bowl,
mix softened marg/butter with the yellow cake mix until crumbly. Roll pie dough into 2 seperate
pie plates and finish edges. Divide and pour pumpkin batter into both pie plates. Top evenly with divided cake mixture. Cover edges of pie crust with aluminum foil & bake in 350* oven for approximately 45 minutes or until center is set and top is lightly browned. Cool before serving.
Top with ice cream, whipped topping or cream cheese icing.
(see below for recipe).

PUMPKIN CREAM CHEESE MUFFINS

Ingredients:
1- 18oz. yellow cake mix
1- 15oz. can pumpkin puree
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
( or 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg & 1/2 tsp. ground cloves)
4 oz. cream cheese (block is easiest)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*.  Fill 12 muffin tin cups with paper liners. Mix cake mix with pumpkin puree and spices. Fill each paper liner with mixture. Cube cream cheese into 12 small squares, and pop one square into each filled muffin cup (pushing down cheese block to sink it into the center of the muffin). Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350* or until a toothpick inserted into muffin comes out clean. Cool after baking and top with cream cheese topping.
(See recipe below for cream cheese topping.)

CREAM CHEESE TOPPING:

Ingredients:
4 oz. cream cheese softened
1 container cream cheese frosting (store bought, in the tub)

Directions:
In a seperate bowl mix softened cream cheese with store bought cream cheese frosting. Take any size plastic sandwich bag and cut the tip off one side of the bottom of the bag. Fill the bag with topping mixture. Place in the fridge to chill for about an hour. Once mixture is chilled, squeeze the frosting out of the tip and onto pie/muffins.

............................................................................
Wasn't that simple???
We thought so too!!!
Hope you will enjoy your treats at home!
We wouldn't want to be stingy with our E-Z recipes....and after all...we love to share.
:)
Check out our behind the scenes clips of the evening banner class here:

We do all the hard work ahead of time for you so you can simply come and enjoy the actual
"making" of the craft.
Pretty nice huh?
We love to use little thrifted and vintage finds in our crafts,
we think that's what makes them so very special!
:)
Everyone seems to have lots of fun together at these shin-digs.
I for one enjoy getting to meet the folks I don't get to see very often when I'm sitting in my office tippity typing away on the computer!
You girls are just a load of fun!
:)
This was a very fun class!
Stay tuned for more classes to come....we are putting our thinking caps on for many more
crafty possibilities.
Thanks again for supporting us in this new endeavor!

Classroom Details Coming Soon...

 If you were at our
Pink-a-Palooza Party
last week, you're probably wondering what in the world we were doing with a
Classroom Setting in the shop?!?!?
Well,
We've been asked so many times to hold classes on many different topics.
(Some of you have even attended classes we've held at local Churches...weren't they fun?)
So...
we decided to work hard opening up a space in our shop to do just that:
Offer classes!
What will the classes be you ask???
Well....
here are some of the ideas we've been presented with so far:

1. CRAFTS.
Many people are following us on Pinterest these days,
if you've not had a chance to come on over and join the fun there then we invite you to!
We hope to have fun in groups of 8 or so creating some of the things we find there,
& some ideas we come up with all on our very own!

2. How To Decorate Your ______.
Ever wonder how to decorate your fireplace mantle with style?
Or are there other areas of your house that stump you?
Well, the ladies in charge of decorating at the shop can help you out in one of these classes.

3. Ever had problems deciding whether you want to commit to purchasing
Chris Kenner of Fleur de lis Design, (our in house stockist)
is already holding classes for those who are ready to learn....you can sign up NOW in the shop for full blown painting classes at her wonderful studio right here in
downtown Lynden.
But...for those of you who are undecided....she's toying with the idea of offering sample classes here at the shop.
Why don't you let her know if you're interested....
you can shoot her an email here:

4. Are you part of a BUNKO group?
Isn't it fun? What? You love to go when it's at someone else's house....
but not when you have to host it at your place???
Hubby complains about having to find a place to "hide with the kids" while all the ladies are over?
Think about the possibility of hosting your Bunko group here at the shop!
Now wouldn't that be fun!?!?!?

WELL,
there's much to do to make all these dreams a reality.
So many kinks to work out, and supplies to purchase.
We'll let you know when we decide to release the final details of each "class" opportunity.
Until then,
if you have any questions, comments or suggestions...
PLEASE.....no really..... PLEASE
contact us via email at
We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on classes, crafts, party ideas etc....
because after all....
we are nothing without you!
:)

Another "how to"

One of the most commom trouble areas for our customers to decorate is..............THE MANTLE!!!

We don't have a mantle handy here at the store to help you visualize different ideas, so we went and found one!

Here is a picture of the mantle with a few items that the homeowner was hoping to use on her mantle!

The girls did their magic and added a few new things, and this is what they came up with! First, they did a neutral look! Don't you love how classic this is!! Here's what they've added.......a print, a clock, and a decorative ball! That's all -simple huh?

Here's the same look with the candlesticks and vase switched............

Here are the girls doing what they do sooooooooo well!!

Next they took the same look and added some green accents to spice it up and make it more spring/summer friendly!

Of course, the Grandiflora Girls had to do more than one look! So here is the next look on it's way.........

The homeowner had the old books, decorative ball and the small pot with greens and flowers. The girls added the red pots with topiaries and the double prints. A totally different look on the same mantle.

Just to show another look, they had brought along a basket with grasses in it and replaced the green pot.

We have more "how to's" planned. Some of the upcoming ideas are: end tables, book shelves, and front porches. Be sure to keep checking the blog because you never know when the next "how to" will show up!

We are throwing around the idea of having decorating and "how to" evening classes for our customers. It would be a sign-up event with a small fee that you would receive back in a gift certificate to spend that night (and of course there would be chocolate!). Let us know what you think of this idea, would it be something you'd consider signing up for, what decorating glitches are you having, etc. I'm always up for a fun girls night out aren't you?!?!

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend, and maybe stop in to pick up a new plant or something fun for your flower beds!

What's it called and what do you do with it?

When I started at Grandiflora I had no idea what these were called...................

I'm sure all our blog readers are up on their decorating terms, but if you don't know what this is called, it's a CLOCHE (pronounced closh with a long o).

Now....................what do you do with it? They always look so beautifully displayed in the store (trust me, these Grandiflora Girls know how to do things right!!), but what do I do with it at my house? Well here goes a Grandiflora blog tutorial..............................

Generally the cloche should sit on a plate, bowl or pedestal. Ours is sitting on a pretty green plate (we're going for the spring look). Add a small, simple pot.........

To ours, we've added a small fern to the pot, you can put any silk green, or flower in your pot, we have such a great variety to choose from in our store. Then, we added a small bird,(again, we have so many to choose from) and nest..............................

We tucked in a small sunflower for a pop of color, sprinkled some small stones and added a couple moss mounds...................................

To finish off our display, we propped up the nest, made sure the sunflower poked in just right, and rolled up a pretty yellow placemat to complete it all.

The Grandiflora Girls are great at helping you put things together, so pop on in and we'll help you add a touch of spring to your home. Who knows - maybe you'll learn a new word like I did!!
